Seven Days that changed my life

From the 23rd-30th of October 2025 we held my first seven-day retreat in Negril, Jamaica the theme of which was, the Seven Steps. The personal development coaching anchors each step in the confidence and clarity that comes from operating from a Global Majority mindset.
On day five, in the hours before the ‘uninvited guest’ in the form of an unprecedented Category Five Hurricane named Melissa ripped through Western Jamaica, we were tested. Not fully appreciating the literal peace before the historic and unprecedented storm, we applied the only partially emerging thinking as we tried to prepare, if only mentally, for impending uncertainty and certain practicalities.
Flights coming into Montego Bay had been cancelled the previous day. All of my guests were concerned about getting back to the UK and USA, while trying to allay the understandable fears of their families overseas.
In the evening, as the storm hit we sat together in the middle of the villa, having eaten another delicious four-course dinner, this time prepared by candlelight, served on paper plates to conserve water by a knowing chef and housekeeper. I took my inspiration, from their adjustments and belief in their agency. Every single person in that group played the role that they were there to play. Ubuntu being the operating order of the day.
The incredible bond that we developed and the life lessons that we personally learned as we applied the seven steps, sometimes tentatively, to our situation in real time, through seven unforgettable days is one that I am now compelled to share.
